Swimming Party
We had a great time getting out of the heat and swimming at the Lonetree Rec Center. The kids floated around the lazy river, flew down the water slide and splashed one another. We then warmed up by eating an ice cream sundae and sitting in the sun.
Bowling Fun
We had a small, but enthusiastic, group due to busy summer schedules. The kids enjoyed several games of bowling and even got a chance to show up their parents!
Exceptional Kids Founders Presented with Frances Owens Family Involvement Award
Ken and Kim Ziel, the founders of Exceptional Kids, were honored to be selected as the 2010 Frances Owens (pictured on the right) Family Involvement Award winner by Developmental Pathways. The award is presented every year to a family who provides special support to individuals with developmental disabilities. The presentation occurred at the annual Pathways Client Achievement Award ceremony held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Englewood, CO. The Ziel’s were sincerely touched by the award and acknowledge that the Exceptional Kids program would not be successful without the tremendous support of its wonderful volunteers.
Challenge Air 2010
It was a very windy day which unfortunately grounded all airplane flights, but many of the participants were able to enjoy a short helicopter flight. Exceptional Kids provided all the games and activities for this first annual Denver event including a really cool parachute air tower.
